Replacement of Kenyonville Road Bridge in Carlton: The new single lane, two span continuous steel girder bridge will replace the existing single lane, steel pony truss that has been closed to traffic for close to ten years. The new bridge will be one and wider, longer, and taller, giving boaters an additional 6 feet of clearance. The project begins at Hanlon Road and ends at Oak Orchard River Road. The pavement approaches and shoulders will be reconstructed, a new drainage system will be constructed and new signs, pavement markings and landscaping will be installed. Traffic will continue to detour on local roads utilized since the bridge was closed. The navigation channel will be restricted and at times closed to boaters. The project is scheduled to be complete by December 2002.
